Gainline Capital Partners Remembers Colleague and Friend Brian Nethercott
This week, we lost a valued member of the Gainline family when Brian Nethercott, our Director of Origination, died unexpectedly at his home in Ridgefield, Connecticut. The entire Gainline team mourns his loss; his unflappable good humor, gracious demeanor, and loyal friendship will be profoundly missed.
Brian joined Gainline at its founding in 2015. Brian’s work ethic was legendary; always the first one in the office, he was usually the first person to greet team members with a genuine smile and kind word. Notwithstanding the pressure and demands of a competitive private equity business, Brian’s comportment was a welcomed and reliable constant. He was always calm, warm, caring, decent and diligent.
Brian began his career at Goldman Sachs and held a series of roles of increasing responsibility at Smith Barney, Valufinder Inc., Valens Capital Management, and Lincolnshire Management. Since joining Gainline, Brian was instrumental in numerous successful deals for the company.
Brian’s temperature would only rise when he’d talk about his beloved Syracuse University Orange (he was a proud graduate of Syracuse’s Whitman School of Management), the Mets, or the Giants. He was most passionate, however, about his family - his wife of 30 years, Mary, and their two daughters, Caroline and Molly, both recent graduates of Brian’s alma mater. The entire Gainline team sends our deepest condolences to Mary, Caroline, and Molly, as well as Brian’s extended family and friends.
